Assistant Director on "Our Town"

February 2017

I worked as an Assistant Director on this play, taking care of the administrative side as well as working with the actors during rehearsals. I was with the director from the start, auditioning, all the way to performance time taking notes, helping with the get-in, building the few pieces of furniture and leading the warm-up every day.

Producer & Director on "The Thousand Faces of Ballet"

April 2012

My goal with this project was to portray dancers as such but also as people, not just in character.

Although you cannot dissociate these 2 parts of their personality, still the characters in ballets are usually heightened, very intense and somewhat out of this

world. Besides, you don’t always dance characters that are close to your personality, just as actors don’t always portray people they resemble if they have a range. In this instance, I wanted fans of ballet and non-fans to get to know dancers better and feel close or even closer to them.

Director on "The Author's Voice"

February 2009

I felt it resonated strongly with me and would with the audience. Sprinkled with dark humour and some more in-your-face comedy, I went for it, working on the many layers with the actors, producing, directing, designing the set and lights. It was an all-round work I revelled in, talking movements, actions, intentions, objectives with the performers. It was a wonderful team work that kept me wanting for more.

This was an exploration of our society, of the values we hold so dear but seem to be to no avail today in the face of money and fame and other needs. However, there is a glimmer of hope as I do not believe humans are bad and hopeless. I hoped this story could make us look at and question our acts, behaviours, beliefs and treatment of others. It is a mirror held to our conscious so that we could, without seeming patronizing, maybe change ourselves and the world for the better. It is, deep down, an homage to the best in all of us, an homage to love and compassion.
